Trek's Madone 5.1 Compact is made in the USA from their race-proven OCLV Black-Series Carbon for impressive lightness, awesome efficiency and precision handling. This high-end carbon, paired with Bontrager's Race Lite Carbon fork, gives you a velvety smooth ride on even rough pavement. And the beautiful frameset rolls on Bontrager's Race wheels which are super light as well as super fast. What's more, this thoroughbred boasts Shimano's proven 20-speed Ultegra component group for first-rate shifting and braking, and a quality Bontrager seat, handlebar and stem.

The Madone 5.1 is built of Trek's OCLV Black-Series Carbon. This enthusiast-level carbon employs intermediate-modulus carbon and a sophisticated lay-up for a light, stiff and compliant bicycle ideal for all-around road riding.

Bontrager's Race Lite Carbon Fork (left) uses a standard 1 1/8-inch steerer diameter at the top in combination with a 1 1/2-inch bottom diameter to increase fork stiffness and strength. This ingenious design also significantly reduces the weight thanks to its oversize bottom, which allows using a hollow aluminum crown bonded to the carbon legs (as opposed to the solid aluminum crowns found on most traditional forks; shown on the right). Trek's oversize E2 head tube adds strength and stiffness. The result is an unbelievably stiff and super-light front end.

Trek's Madone features a unique bottom bracket (image, right) that's 90mm wide (traditional ones are 68mm wide). This wide bottom bracket lets Trek build the frame with larger tubes for increased power transfer. Plus, the 90mm bottom bracket is machined so that the bearings can be placed directly into the frame (image) saving weight (due to fewer parts), ensuring additional pedaling efficiency and simplifying maintenance and repair.
